Fáilte, Críos. There are learners of all levels hanging around here and questions of all sorts are welcome.

Dia duit! Is mise Iósua agus tá mé I mo chónaí I mBeal Feirste. Is fearr liom Geailge. Tá sé mo chuid teanga dúchasach.

Hello everyone! :) Lovely forum you have here. I spoke Irish in school for three years and although I aced all of my tests I seem to have forgotten almost everything I learnt. This forum seems like a great place to improve my Irish and hopefully I'll spend a lot of time here! :D

PS: If someone can correct the (doubtlessly numerous) mistakes in my Irish I would very much appreciate it!

Thanks. :)

A chairde,

Song Chen is ainm dom. Rugadh me agus tógadh me sa tSin, ach táim i mo chonaí in Éirinn le timpeal deich mbliana, i mbaile átha cliath. Tá staidéar a dhéanamh agam ar an nGaeilge ar feadh leath na bliana. Már sílim go bhfuil me anseo fada go leor agus is maith liom an teanga. Doigh liom go bhfuil sé an trua go bhfuil nach labhraíonn a lán daoine an Gaeilge fiú anseo in Éirinn.

Slán!

Song Chen

A Bhreandán,

Sorry, but this post was supposed to be in the "introduce yourself". Could you help to move it please?

Mile buiochas!

Hey,

I'm Luke, here to learn some Irish, even though I'm starting from scratch. Well, not exactly scratch, but it's been about 5 years since I last studied Irish, so hoping this forum can help with any difficulties I come across. I no doubt need to buy an Irish textbook to help me, can anyone advise me a useful and recent book with good explanations of grammar but comprehensive enough to cover all the areas and providing sufficient vocabulary?

Again, hello to all! :-)

Hi Luke. Welcome to ILF. You'll find a few kindred spirits around here - people who came back to the language a few years after leaving school, myself included. You will be surprised how much you have; it's just the stringing together that takes a bit of getting used to.

There are a number of sections on the site that may be of interest to you. A very recent one is about learning resources, and we are hoping that more people will add to that. viewforum.php?f=36
Another one give links to websites that members have found useful. viewforum.php?f=32
There are some very useful tips and guides here viewforum.php?f=35

Most importantly, if you want to ask anything at all, the members are delighted to help people out and we all learn from the questions and answers that are offered. Browse the site and hopefully you will find a few useful bits and pieces.

Saoirse.

Hey Saoirse!

Thanks for all the links there, I'll certainly check them out in a few minutes. I've struggled to find resources to help organize grammar into sections; such as Present Tense, Past Tense, and Future Tense, Conditional Tense etc. I only ever seem to find websites which provide phrases...but that can only get you so far. Anyhow, I'll check out those links, thanks again! :)
