Fáilte a Darra,

Sassy Lassie, from IGTF, here. This is a better place to hang around, nowadays. :D

Hi everyone,

I heard of this site via the Chiff & Fipple site.
I'm a rank beginner - just hoping to have some fun learning here!

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Welcome, osage59. Chiff and Fipple? Like the others I had heard Redwolf mention it so I went and had a look. Just what I need - another interesting forum to eat into my work time. :panic: (I play tin whistle, flute and uilleann pipes myself.)

Hope you enjoy our forum too.

(G'day Sassy - How goes it? Any word on Tiarnan?)

Dia daoibh (or is it dhaoibh?), a chairde.

Is mise Lori. Tá mé i mo chónaí i Utah. I've been a lurker on IGTF on and off for years, but I never really posted anything. I have always been drawn to Ireland and Gaeilge and I've wanted to learn Irish for years. I've never had much success in trying because I've never been able to find someone in my area to learn from or practice with.

I've decided to make another attempt at learning. Right now I know a few phrases and a few very basic sentence structures. (e.g. "Tá mé fuar," agus "Is foghlaimeoir mé," etc.) With my motivation to learn rekindled, I went to IGTF as a place to practice, but I saw that it was no longer owned by Eoin and that many of the regular posters had moved to here instead. So here I am! :D

Go raibh maith agaibh!

(And if anyone knows any speakers/learners/classes in Utah, I would love to have someone to practice with in person.)

Fáilte, a Lori! It's nice to see you. You will see a lot of familiar faces here, to be sure. Nice to hear you've rekindled your desire for learning. This is a great place to start!
