I'm trying to work out the best way to say to an acquaintance who couldn't remember when we first met something along the lines of "we met in San Francisco last year" (where "we" is the other person and myself).
I thought of "bhuail muid le chéile" but that sounds a bit to my ear as if I'm describing a planned meeting rather than simply encountering each other by accident and exchanging pleasantries. I finally settled for "bhuail mé leat anúraidh in San Francisco" because it was a conversation and I didn't want to waste time searching for a phrase when I had one to hand, but is there a better way to do this?

Both of your examples are fine, I think. You could also say:
casadh ar a chéile muid...Slán,
Domhnall
