I think údar would be better than ailtire (too literal).

Or it could be expressed differently:

Mise is cúis le mo scrios féin

I agree. OP, Errigal is basically saying that "údar" is a better word to use than "ailtire". Even though ailtire means architect, saying "I am the architect of my..." is an English idiom, thus údar (author, creator) is a better word to use. Bit of a silly oversight by me.

Mise is cúis le mo scrios féin

Both (slightly) different ways of saying the same thing.

I think I'd leave out 'chuid'.

Mise is cúis le mo scrios féin
I am the cause of my own destruction.

Is mise údar mo scriosta féin
I am the author of my own destruction.

The meaning is essentially the same but "údar" is more active than "cúis," dar liom. Ach nílim cinnte, ar ndóigh.
As far as I am aware, the order "Is mise" or "Mise is" is inconsequential. The changes to the rest of the sentence (besides cúis/údar) are purely grammatical.
