We are in the process of building our own home. We have worked hard to do things the way we think they ought to be done, oftentimes in the face of commercial expediency. We're three years into the process and a couple of months away from being able to move in! We would like to name our home something that reflects the originality, practicality, and the embodiment of our arts, philosophy, and aesthetics. As both of us have Irish ancestry, we thought being able to express it in Irish / Gaelic would fit right in to our theme.

Hence, we are looking to translate the words, phrase, or idea: "Our Way"

I realize that ideas such as this may or may not translate literally, word for word, so am certainly open to how it would most appropriately be expressed in Irish - hence my reason for the explanation in the first paragraph.

Thanks so much for any suggestions, help, and translations.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

There are many ways to translate "way" in Irish, depending on what nuance you are after.

One would be:

Ár mBealach Féin "Our (Own) Way"

Another might be:

Ár Nós Féin "Our (Own) Way"

Either way I think the Irish sounds better with féin than without.

Await further input ...

I think the second one is the best option. I agree with your use of "féin".
