in Genesis 49:17 of PUL's Cork bible the following words come up:

athair nimhe = Father of poison
piast nimhe = Worm of poison

Are these just two different ways to say snake/serpent? Is there anything else I should know here?

Thank you

in’ athair probably a typo for ’na nathair (= ina nathair)

(nathair = snake)

PUL:
Quote:
Bíodh Dan in’ athair nímhe sa tslí, ’na phiast nímhe* sa chosán, ag bhreith (len’ fhiacslaibh) ar shálaibh an eich ionas go dtitfeadh an marcach siar

ABN:
Quote:
Beidh Dán ina nathair nimhe ar an mbóthar agus ar an gcosán ina nathair adharcach, a bheireann greim ar speir an chapaill agus go dtiteann a mharcach i ndiaidh a chúil.
