Hi, I'm looking for a rough translation of this piece on Séamus Leabailin and three other verses in the book that mention him.

Hi, Fitzer. There is quite a lot there.

If you are in a hurry and can afford it, then I would suggest getting a professional translator to tackle the job.

If you are not in a hurry, then I would suggest breaking the poem up into individual verses or sentences and we can work through them here a little at a time.

But please be aware that since we are all volunteers, it may be a slow and tedious process depending on the amount of time people have available.

Your Facebook admin advised posting it here, but I suppose you're right. However, I could do with a translation of a couple of the sentences with his name in them, before deciding to get the rest translated professionally.

Here is an attempt at the first stanza of one:

A ċara 's a ḃráṫair, fáilte ó ċroiḋe reoṁat
I dtearmonn breáġ Ċolmán do Ċoiṁḋe ;
Go mairir ón bPápa an árd-ċaṫaoir sin ;
Baċall is fáinne is bláṫ-ḃairín ort.

"Friend and brother, a cordial welcome to you
In the fine sanctuary of the Dove of the Lord ;
May you live to enjoy from the Pope that high throne ;
Crook and ring and beautiful mitre upon you."

Is this one of the ones you were wanting translated?

That's excellent. What I'm really interested in is verse 150 on page 46 and the last verse on page 47. After that I can make a decision on what to do. It's a pity that I couldn't upload pics of the verses in question.

A chaeth-laec sin Saesar, fét shleasaibh gan treóir,

And here is the verse from lines 161 - 164
Péarla Chláir Éibhir ba leanbhach snódh,
An tÉireannach éachtach ó shleasaibh an Chóif;
In' éagmuis is méala bheith feasta go deó;
'S is léan liom-sa Séamus Leabhailin gan treóir.

I retype them here in case it makes it easier for someone to translate for you. There was a link one of the forum familiars posted a bit ago that was to a dictionary that helped interpret older forms and spellings. I cannot recall now what it was called. You could search for a word and it would find it in a corpus of texts and would suggest to you what its modern spelling could be. That is probably the reference that would be most helpful here. I am sorry again that I cannot name it for you.
