Hello fellow Irish Language lovers!

I'm new to the forum, but I came with a very specific purpose. I'm helping my parents go through all our old stuff in their home and I came across a necklace with what looks like an Ogham word on the front. I tried to translate it myself, but nothing I came up with ended up making much sense to me, so I sought out the experts!

Can anyone tell me what this says?

I think the most likely answer here is going to be somewhat disappointing. It doesn't look like it says anything. It may just be a piece made to look good, whereby the letters were chosen for how they compliment each other aesthetically rather than to produce any particular reading.

Strictly speaking, it should be read from bottom to top which would produce: KIBCLREIRT

I can't make much sense of that. Unfortunately, none of the other readings make any more sense:

Top Down: TRIERLCBIK
Inverted Bottom-top: VRIERDSHIK
Inverted Top Down: KIHSDREIRV

I also can't say I recognise the inscription from any of the stones I'm familiar with.

If you'd like to do some more research of your own, this site is a fantastic resource for ogham.

The final X is a later addition, and to my knowledge, isn't found on ogam stones, but only in Manuscripts.

While the X is one of the supplementary letters, it's well attested on the stones. See here for example.
