Not at all, I was only joking. If I was that easily embarrassed about my language abilities, I'd have quit the forum long ago.

Is mise Lúcás Ó Rothláin agus as An Bhreatain Bheag mé!

I live in what was once an Irish speaking part of Wales (we have Ogham and so on)... I'm descended from Amlaib Cuaran and Clann Ó Tuathail from those times, which adds some interest... we have long memories over here... can see the Wicklow Mountains from my home, on a clear day. I started learning Irish today.

Hi everyone,

my name is Jens, I'm 40, from Germany and I feel a bit embarrassed, that I'm not even able to greet you properly in your language. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity yet to get beyond Slaìnte and Faìlte. So apologies for addressing you in the second language.
I will hopefully improve my skills soon in order to at least have a few phrases at hand, knowing, that it will take ages to become something like fluent in Irish. Anyway I'm willing to go for it and we'll see how far I'll get.
My first request will be for a translation for a tattoo, but please be assured, that this is not the only reason, why I registered.

So I hope to be able to give back soon some of the favours, that I will have to ask from you in the first few decades. ;)

take care
Jens
