I believe I have had some help figuring out how to use the ogham writing for the word "lucky," but I am unable to upload a pic of what it looks like. Seems the word ámharach, which we've figured out means lucky. If I am wrong, please let me know, and also I can pass along an image for the ogham version my wife and I have figured out. I appreciate all the help, been going through a tough time as of late.

I suggest - ádhúil - as meaning lucky or fortunate, but if you wanted to say I'm lucky, it could be - tá an t-ádh liom or tá an t-ádh orm, I'm really lucky is - tá an t-ádh dearg orm (dearg really means red, but it's used here as an intensifier, that is to say as a word that reinforces the meaning).

Thanks for the advice. I did finally get a page to display the image. <IMG SRC="http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1565/13700025/24601393/410339630.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com"> does this look close?

Again, thank you.

Most Irish speakers wouldn't be able to read Ogham. As a writing system, it was only ever used for such things as grave markers and the like. Irish has been written using the Latin alphabet for centuries.

There are a few here who done some research on Ogham, I think, but you might want to ask a moderator to include the word "Ogham" in your header so they'll be more likely to see it.

The Ogham in the picture looks OK, apart from the fourth character which should be the same as the first.

You could also consider a tattoo in the Irish script:
Áṁaraċ
or in traditional spelling which preserves the root 'ádh':
Áḋṁaraċ

Please keep all posts about this question in this thread. What I suggested you do is contact a moderator to change the title of THIS thread, not start a new thread.

(Ogham) has been added to the title of the thread. Hopefully that will make the thread easier to find for the relevant people. Saoirse.
