Dia dhaoibh, 'chuile dhaoine. Is as Meiriceá mé freisin. Tá mé i mo chónaí i mbaile beag i stáit an fhéir gorma, agus rugadh agus togadh mé anseo. Thosaigh mé ag foghlaim (na) Gaeilge nuair atá mé in ollscoil anseo i Meiriceá, mar chuala mé go bhfuil seans maith agat staidéar a dhéanamh thar lear in Éirinn leí. Agus, rinne mé. Chaith mé dhá mhí ar an gCeathrú Rua freisin.

I thought i'd finally drop in and say Hi.

My grandfather was born and lived most of his life in Ireland before moving to Australia. We lost him last year. I regret not learning more about my Irish heritage, especially the language after I used ot hear him talking to himself in the shed as he pottered over a project in Gaelic. I regret never learning the language from him so i've figured that learning now would be a good way to remember him.

So Dai Duit (only phrase I know :) )

Tá fáilte romhat, BalderAsir. It sounds like a lovely way to remember your grandfather. You are very welcome to ILF. By the way, it's Dia duit (Dia means God).

Dia duit a chairde, bhí mé ar suíomh gréasáin eile fadó fadó, agus ceapaim go bhfuil cúpla daoine anseo air freisin.

Fionnuala is ainm dom, is mise as Éireann agus táim i mo gconaí i mBaile Átha Cliath anois. (ach bhí mé i mo gconaí sna Stát Aontaithe cúpla bliain ó shin nuair a bhí mé ar an suíomh eile.)
