I was wondering if someone could help me with the translation of the phrase " Love yourself first "
So far i have found " grá duit féin an chéad "
Does this seem correct?

Thank you in advance!

I never knew that. Just another item to add to the long list of things I didn't know and now do and am likely to forget.....

Just to clarify for the OP:

Bíodh grádh agat duit féin ar dtúis. (GM)

In standard that would be:

Bíodh grá agat duit féin ar dtús. (CO)

And in Connacht Irish:

Bíodh grá agat dhuit féin ar dtús. (GC)

There are a few ways to say "first" in Irish. Another possibility might be:

Is túisce grá dhuit féin. (GC)

(or Is túisce grá duit féin. (CO))

My "specialty" is Connemara Irish, particularly Cois Fhairrge dialect, but I can also speak Ulster and Munster Irish with native-level pronunciation.

Gaeilge Chonnacht (GC), go háraid Gaeilge Chois Fhairrge (GCF), Gaeilic Uladh (GU), Gaelainn na Mumhan (GM), agus Gaeilge an Chaighdeáin Oifigiúil (CO).

'Grádh' the traditional spelling of the word. It's not specific to Munster.
Apologies if my use of non-C.O. spelling causes confusion or irritation :)

Munster Irish is very welcome, as are all the dialects. It is just less confusing for beginners or learners if you let them know that is what they are getting. ;)

If you don't want to put (GM) after your suggestions to clarify (or SL - sean-litriú for old spelling), another option is to add a note to that effect in your signature.

Neither is compulsory, it is more a courtesy to those less familiar with the language - and you get to promote your favourite dialect (or spelling) at the same time.

I'm bumping this up, Megan, so that you can ask for additional input in your original thread.
