I wasn't sure of the plural for 'business' and so looked up
http://www.focloir.ie. Under the heading 'business' was the subheading 'to do the business' with the following entry.
(absolutely no pun intended)have sex: 'we did the business last night' - 'rinneamar an gníomh aréir'Immediately under that was the following:
to get down to business: 'we have to get down to business right away' - 'caithfimid tabhairt faoin obair láithreach, caithfimid dul ina bhun láithreach, caithfimid bualadh faoi láithreach'and straight after that was this:
'they went about their business quietly' - 'chuaigh siad i mbun oibre go ciúin, rinne siad a ngnó go socair' I am not sure that they are all related, but they could be!! You can never be quite sure what you find when you want to look up something perfectly harmless!
