How would you pronounce the girls name "Neala" in your particular dialect of Gaelic? Is "Neala" the correct spelling for this name in Irish?

I've never heard that name, to be honest...where did you find it?

As it's spelled, it would be pronounced "NA-luh" (with the first syllable rhyming with "dad"), but I'd want to be sure that it's a real Irish name and spelled correctly before I'd commit to that.

In Ulster it would be pronounced NYAH-luh.
But I don't know that name either

I'd be hugely wary of anything you find on a baby name site. A lot of them are pure shite.

On the namenerds sitr that barra provided it gives Frank McCourt saying it as Kneel ah. He says it is an Irish name but I don't think he had Irish and is just reading Namemerd's script. I doubt it really is an Irish name

That's not namenerds...it's "baby names of Ireland." Namenerds actually does a much better job of scholarship.

It's not in Woulfe's Irish Names for Children, either.

Right you are. Red. Misread the link. It's not namenerds but I still wouldn't be too sure of it as an Irish name
