Hi guys! I was hoping you could help me :3
I'd like to give my professor a card with a nice note saying something that would show how much he is appreciated in Irish because he speaks it :]
I don't know anything about Irish language or how it flow or translates, but maybe something along the lines of "I deeply respect and admire you", but not literally translated. Are there any special ways people say thanks to teachers in Ireland? Phrases and what not?
If not, if you could just throw out some ideas and what they mean I would really appreciate it :]

How about something like: 'Go raibh míle maith agat as do chuid oibre linn i rith na bliana. Bhain mé an-taitneamh agus tairbhe as do ranganna. Tá an-mheas agam ort.' In English, 'Thank you very much for your work with us during the year. I thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from your classes. I have great respect for you.'

Is that too much? :pages:

He's just a really great guy and I feel so inspired by him. Unfortunately i suck at putting words together and good thing coming out :S especially in english since it's not my first language >.> ... But he's always so helpful and encouraging and it's such a joy attending his lectures, i just wanted to let him know how much everything he does means to me.

How about "Thanks for being an inspiration"? Do people say something like that in Ireland?

Mo cheol thú (you are my music) is a really nice phrase that's used when someone does something amazing or inspiring.

Aw, that's really sweet :) do you think it's appropriate tho? I don't wanna say something that might be taken the wrong way >.>

Haha, there's nothing intimate or romantic about it if that's what you mean. It's just a "well done" or "that was great" kind of saying.

Sorry, I wanted to clarify. So is it like a praise for something particular? Like "well done on ..."? Or just a more general sort of "you're awesome all around" kind of statement? XD
