Hi, I'm Irish and very much love the Irish Language, however I speak very little of it . I have been trying over the last few years to use conversational Irish everyday & I'm so happy and proud now when I hear my three young children using Irish & understanding it because they are hearing it at home. I really hope to pick up some everyday phrases on these forums that I can use when talking to my children & hopefully pass on my love of the language to them :-)

Hi Cara. :hullo: I will second Lon Dubh's recommendation. :good: Gaschaint is perfect for gathering everyday phrases with young children. There are accompanying cds also in case you are unsure of pronunciations.

Greetings! I live in a small village in Western Illinois which has some Irish heritage from the 1800's, including within my own family. My uncle has visited Ireland on several occasions, and I plan on doing so sometime within the next 5 years or so. More immediately, I am pursuing an interpretation for my first (and almost certainly only) tattoo, which I understand should be posted elsewhere.

Hello, again, and thanks for the Forum!

Is mise Dáithí Mac Giolla Cheara nó David carr. Táim ar tugtar ag cheactar . Ní mórán Gaelainn fós, ach mairim ar an bhfeohanagh , siar ón nDaingean .

I moved to the Gaeltacht to try and improve my Irish, I had hardly any when I started , but so far this forum has really given me great help.

Dia dhuit! Is mise Shannon agus tá mé i mo chónaí i Meiriceá :)

[Hi! I am Shannon and I live in America].

Although I'm sure you could all figure that out  I have a strong Irish heritage but am new to learning this beautiful language. I've been learning for a few days and catching on fairly fast, but the above is all I can write and KNOW its right without using a translator. Its all about practise and patience, I suppose.

Anyway, I am excited to have found this forum and I feel it will be very beneficial to my learning.

Slán go foíll!
