I often wonder, "How do you express 'I am singing' or 'I am playing' (as in music)" but I never get around to figuring it out. :/ Would any one know the answers to this?

Táim ag amhránaíocht- I'm singing- "Táim ag canadh" you can say also.

If you're playing an instrument, it's " Táim ag seinnt/ seinm" there are variations too.

It's interesting that in Gaelic there are at least three verbs for playing. I like that!

As someone who does it on a daily basis, I'd say "Tá mé ag canadh" or, perhaps a bit more idiomatically, "Tá mé ag ra" if I'm singing a particular song, or "Tá mé ag seinm" if I'm playing. But then what do I know...

Ah don't be like that Redwolf. You know loads.

"Tabhair amhráin dúinn"- give us a song..."Bhí sé tabharta go maith"

"Abair amhrán dúinn" sing us a song..." Bhí sé ráite go maith"...go mbeannaí Dia an t-amhránaí, nár laga Dia do láimh- let god bless the singer- let not God weaken your hand

I sing everyday too.

B'fhéidir go mbeadh "nár lagaí Dia do ghuth" níos fearr. Mura bhfuil amhrán Sign Language i gceist.

Á, nílim ach ag magadh. Is focal nua dom é "útamáil" ach bím ag útamáil go minic, is dócha.

In Connemara, you can also say "Cas amhrán !" for "Sing a song!".

Tá sé ag casadh amhráin. "He is singing a song."

Another thing about "playing" is that you play "on" an instrument in Irish:

Tá sé ag seinm ar an bhfidil. "He is playing the fiddle."
Tá sé ag seinm ar an bpíb uilleann. "He is playing the uilleann pipes." (Uilleann pipes are plural in English, but singular in Irish.)
