Hello everyone! I'm excited to have found this forum and hope to be able to slowly learn more about Gaelic. I'm of Irish descent and can sing a few songs in Gaelic but that's about it. :D

Welcome to the forum. Being able to sing a few songs in Irish is a pretty good start. Fáilte!

hi my name is tony I joined to make sure that the word M'fhirghra is a Irish Gaelic word that meant "my true love", because I want to tattoo it on my chest as well as my wife's name and a Celtic love knot as a gift of my love to my wife on our 20th wedding anniversary.

It means that, but the spelling is a bit off. It should be M'fhíorghrá, with accents over the "i" and the "a". Accents are important in Irish, because they can change the meaning, and not just the pronunciation, although in this case I think anyone who saw what you wrote would have understood what you meant to say.

Haigh, a h-uile duine!

So it looks like I'm the newest fish in the barrel. I speak little Irish, but I know quite a bit of Scottish Gaelic; I'm hoping to fix this imbalance, and I'm confident I shall be learning much from all of you fine gentlemen (and -women) in the future. :D
