sorry just one more question while i'm at it,

if you're using má in the past tense is it followed by bhí or go raibh ?

wouldn't it be right to say má thóg tú ? in the past tense
but yet má bhí tú sounds wrong?

I don't know why it "sounds wrong" to you when it's perfectly correct. Similarly, note that the corresponding present tense version is má tá tú rather than *má fhuil tú.

I have two things I'm struggling to word as well:

"It's supposed to be spring" > Tá sé in ainm a bheith ina earrach?
"Better than what?" > Cad é an rud níos fearr ná é sin?
