Could you please record pronunciations for:

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Fear -> fahr (with a short ah-sound)
Féar -> fayr (roughly) with a long ay-sound
Fearr -> f(e)awr in Connacht and Munster ; fehr (with a long eh-sound) in Ulster (but it's not the same vowel sound as in "féar")

So the distinction I hear betwixt fear and fearr seems to be a softly trilled palatal 'r' to the end of fearr...?!?

In Conamara Irish, at least, I'd distinguish them as follows:

.:>:.fear
F(y)AER
/f´æ:r/

.:>:.fearr
F(y)AWR
/f´ɑ:r/

.:>:.féar
F(y)AIR
/f´e:r/

All the r's are flapped, as usual in Irish. The main difference is in the vowel.

The double r in fearr just turns the vowel a into á.

The double r may have been a stronger rolled/trilled r historically, and the distinction may remain in some dialects in Munster (which may be part of the reason the spelling didn't change to feár*?)

I don't think there's any distinction r/rr left in Munster, in my experience it only subsists in certain Ulster dialects in the speak of certain older people...

r/rr is that double "rr" similar to the Spanish double rr?

Thá an "rr" san fós beo i mbéalaibh na gcainteoirí maithe anso, ach mar sin fhéinig thá'n nós ag imeacht de bharr nósanna droch-fhoghraíochta na sgol agus tréigint na Gaoluinne ar son an Bhéarla ins na Gaeltachtaibh. Is truagh an sgéal é.
