Ok, I've been working on chapter 1 this week. Not an easy read, but the notes from An Lon Dubh helped a lot. I still don't have a copy of the book, but I found an online version. I hope it's out of copyright, but usually wikisource are very good about that sort of thing.

The spelling in the WikiSource book is not the same as in the book that I've got.

Séadna is a pretty big book and it would be awful I think, to try to read an entire novel on a computer screen – well, for me anyway.

It would probably be much more comfortable and easier to read an actual physical book. They are very cheap and readily available from Litríocht (and other places, I'm sure)

When I ordered mine, it got here (in Alburquerque, New Mexico) in only 8 days.

That source was given by Bríd awhile back, its the source I'm using. The spelling is the original as it was written by Peadar Ua Laoghaire. If you are feeling adventurous Breandán gave the version in the seanachló.

I missed that post from Bríd.

For some reason I can't get the seanchló version to work. It keeps telling me that my browser doesn't have the right plugin (even after I downloaded the plugin).

Wee Falorie man, I agree with you about real books. Sitting up in bed with your laptop just ain't the same.

The books that I was referring to are not in the original spelling The words are exactly the same, but in the newer spelling.

I was wondering, would people prefer if I just kept outputting the notes, or keep them at the same pace as the group in general.
I've been holding off on the notes for Caibideal a trí since nobody is there, yet, but if you prefer I can keep going.

I think it's better if you just keep posting the notes for each chapter, even if everyone hasn't gotten there yet. That way, you don't have to worry about timing and you don't have to think about keeping track of where everyone is at.

Whenever you post the notes for a chapter, I print out a hard copy and then pore over them when I get to that part of the chapter. So, I think it would be fine to go ahead and print out Caibideal a Trí and any other future chapters, too. I am working my way through this book very slowly, so it would be good to post notes for chapters that I haven't reached yet; this will benefit faster, more fluent people like An Cionnfhaolach, Aislingeach, Bríd Mhór, etc.

@ An Lon Dubh-I agree that you should post the notes regardless of where we are in the book. I was also thinking that it would be helpful if all the links were in one post, entitled "Séadna Notes" or something. As the thread gets longer, they will be harder to find. But that's just a suggestion. I really appreciate the the time you put into doing them; they are an incredible help!

I am a learner. Any translations offered are practice and should not be used unless confirmed.

I'm the one responsible for the Wikisource version. I don't think it's a school edition. It should be an exact transcription of the original, which can be viewed at wikisource.org/wiki/File:Seadna.djvu, though there may be typos. At the very least it can be used by people who don't (yet) have the book.
