Thanks for mentioning that.

Truth to tell, I was trying to finish as fast as possible because I didn't want to hold back the group – But now I'll make sure that I've studied everything thoroughly so that I'll really be ready when we move on to Chapter 2.

Your not holding anyone back. I believe Lon Dubh has already read Séadna and I think there's a few that need to finish a chapter or two on "TYI" before they join us anyway. Don't be afraid to post any questions! :good:

Well, if finishing TYI first is the criteria, I'm hopeless unqualified, being only about a third of the way through it. So please don't wait to continue on my account.

I said I'd do a recording of Séadna, for variety (and practise, too! Haven't read Irish literature since the LC 8O ) Which chapter should I do?

Ar fheabhas ar fad :good: ,

I think there is a tiny typo: you said dá nglacthá do sheomra (dá nglanthá) for if you were to clean your room. It didn't jump out at me at first, took me awhile to notice it.

Bodhraim- Bodhar also means to haunt, so "Ná bodhair mise"- Don't bother/ haunt me

the past subjunctive is very prominent still among older Ring speakers also.

Progress Report:

After 5 days of burning the midnight oil, I am now able to read Chapter 1 of "Séadna" without having to look up anything at all in the dictionary – whew!

I've also been listening to all of the sound files for Chapter 1 every day and I think my pronunciation is starting to get better. Thanks An Cionnfhaolach and An Lon Dubh for making sound files! If all goes well, I will try to make a recording :lah: and post it to-morrow (if I can figure out how to do it).

It's amazing to see the difference that 5 days of studying can make. When I first read Chapter 1, it was very, very hard for me to read and I could hardly understand ANY of it; now it seems like a very short chapter that is easy to read and understand. :)

I have finally finished chapter one. An Lon Dubh's notes were a huge help, but I still feel somewhat brain-damaged! I'm very glad that I decided to work from the .pdf printout, though. Notes scrawled everywhere! This is probably going to be more beneficial to my learning than all the exercises in the world.
