no need to apologize, I just wanted to be sure. Thank you.

It is wise to be careful where something permanent is involved.

Oh it definitely is, I also am a tattoo artist so I know all too well about people who have neglected to do their research and wound up having to spend money on cover-ups or even worse laser removal.

STILL looking to have a third confirmation on this, maybe you know someone who could take a look?

Nice signature! :good:

Anyone else to confirm or correct? :

Fan tréan "Stay strong"
Bí dílis "Be true"
and
Fan tréan is bí dílis duit féin "Stay strong and be true to yourself"

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask for any help regarding my previous inquiry. I am looking for the translation of "stay strong" as in strong-willed/strong-minded, and "be true". the translations I have are Fan Tréan and Bi Dílis. These ARE for a tattoo and I would just like a third confirmation on these. Breandán and An Cionnfhaolech have already been so kind and I appreciate it greatly. Please help confirm THANK YOU everyone.

also my original post is under the subject TAT: Please Help "Fan Tréan"???

Thank you again in advance.

Hi Antone,

Please keep requests for confirmation on your original thread, which is here:

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1289

Requesting confirmation there will bump it back to the top of the order, and will also prevent people from answering in a different place, which causes confusion.

I'm locking this one as a duplicate request per forum policy.

THANK YOU FOR THAT INFORMATION REDWOLF, I DO APOLOGIZE. I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THIS SITE WAS ACTUALLY SET UP THAT NICELY AND IT IS GOOD TO KNOW. AGAIN I APOLOGIZE. HAVE BEEN ON NUMEROUS FORUM SITES FOR OTHER THINGS AND NOT ONE IS SET UP AS NICELY AS THIS. THANKYOU FOR THE CREATORS DOING A WONDERFUL JOB.

No need to apologise, and thanks for the compliment.

@translators - Would anyone else like to confirm the above translations? or offer something different?

Thanks, Scooby. :GRMA:

Antone, notice that Scooby has highlighted the í in . The accents are important in Irish. Try not to lose them. ;)

Thank you very much Scooby for a third confirmation. Thank you Breandán for pointing out my typo  through out my questioning I have tried to be good about the accents, I will be sure to be very detail oriented when it comes to doing up the stencils. Thank you so much! And always nice to have more confirmation from any one else. Thank you again for all the help from everyone, I appreciate it very very much.

...so will I.

Fan tréan
and
Bí dílis

...look OK to me in Irish

One suggestion though. If I was saying 'Be strong' in the sense of Be/Remain Brave, Be/Remain of Good Courage, etc. I would use:
Bíodh misneach agat!

 Yes, Braoin, normally I would have suggested that or Coinnigh do mhisneach ! "Keep up your courage!" but this is for a knuckle tattoo and Antone is limited to 8 letters. ;)

They would certainly be alternatives for the longer phrase:

Bíodh misneach agat agus bí dílis duit féin.

Coinnigh do mhisneach agus bí dílis duit féin.
