A "star staff" most likely invokes the "power of the stars" to perform some magic. A star "cane" is more likely to evoke painful memories of an era when corporal punishment was the norm.

If you are aiming for "and loving it!", agus is breá liom é/í (é = the general situation; í = an teanga) might work.

For "I don't know much (yet)", perhaps Níl mórán eolais agam (fós). (fios is more "know of/have heard of something"; eolas is "knowing (details) about something".

But wait for confirmation on that. )

There's loads of other ways though:

"Thá (S.L GM- An Rinn) bearna im' chuid eolais (fuithi)"

"Nín mo chuid Gaolainne ar barr mo theangan (GM- CO Theanga) agam fós" nú "Nín (Níl) an Ghaolainn agam go binn/ go cruinn fós"
"Nín/ Níl (mo chuid) Gaolainn(e) go binn agam fós"
"N' fheadair ' bhfuil an máistreacht bainte amach agam/ máistreacht agam fós inti/uirthi (chun mo thuairim a léiriú)"

I suppose you can be as poetic as you like about it.

Edited to add "inti", "inti" is pronounced as "inte" in Munster rather than "intí

Personally I'd prefer -
"I don't know much Irish (yet)" = Níl mórán Gaeilge agam (fós).


It depends on what the subject is and like Cian said many different ways to say it -

Níl mórán taithí agam ar siúnéireacht.
Níl'fhíos 'am mórán faoi..... Seandálaíocht.
