Hello all, I was looking for some assistance, I work with a band based out of Glasgow, we play Bb marching flutes and previously took the name The Brother Walfrid Flute Band. However we ran into some issues as the term Flute Band is associated with a lot of negativity in Scotland. As the band is non political and has no association with the root of this negativity we are looking at changing the name to align closer to that of the Irish flute bands that play and compete in fleadh’s, I know a lot of them go by Fife and Drum in English, but I have seen two different terms that in Irish, one being Banna Ceoil and the second being Buíonn Ceoil. My question is which one is more correct ? Banna Ceoil Br. Walfrid or Buíonn Ceoil Br. Walfrid, or is there another name we should be looking at. Secondly would it be deemed as acceptable to keep the Brother Walfrid part in English rather than translating brother into Irish ? Thank you in advance for all your help, Zach
