Before I start, let me just say, any and all help is appreciated. You guys are awesome.
I'm looking to get a tattoo translated, as well as a few other individual words.
The quote I would like help with reads,
"You cannot call yourself peaceful, unless you are capable of great violence. If you are not capable of violence, you are not peaceful. You are harmless."
You already have asked here:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6194.
The answer was correct:
Ní feidir leat duine síochánta a thabhairt ort, mura bhfuil tú in ann dul i mhuinín an an-fhornirt.
Mura bhfuil tú in ann dul i mhuinín an an-fhornirt, ní duine síochánta tú, is duine neamhurchóideach tú.I'd use "thú" instead of "tú" in the second sentence.
And you can shorten the first part of the second sentence because it is a rather long repitition of the first:
Mura bhfuil tú in ann dul i mhuinín an an-fhornirt, -> Mura bhfuil (if you aren't)
Ní feidir leat duine síochánta a thabhairt ort, mura bhfuil tú in ann dul i mhuinín an an-fhornirt.
Mura bhfuil, ní duine síochánta thú, is duine neamhurchóideach thú.ShaggMagee wrote:
As for the words I would like translated, to be put on the family crest I'm having made, they are:
•Family
•Loyalty
•Silence
Again, thank you for your help in advance. I appreciate it so much!!
Family is a bit difficult to translate, dep. on what you mean by "family"
But it is often asked, so see here in older posts:
