Hello !
What is the best translation for warrior ?
I found 2 possibilities, "laoch" or "gaiscíoch".
Could you please give me your opinion and the difference between these 2 words ?

You could use either, but laoch is arguably used more to mean "hero", while gaiscíoch is arguably used more to mean "warrior". So, for example, if you were speaking of yourself, you would probably choose gaiscíoch, since calling yourself laoch might seem like bragging (although bragging was, I suppose, a tradition among the Gaels).

Just to add some history :D

Laoch comes from old irish láech "layman, warrior" and is originally from Latin laicus meaning "layman".

Gaiscíoch comes from old irish gaiscedach meaning "one who bears arms, a warrior or a skilled champion" and comes from gaisced "arms, weapons" (Mod. gaisce, normally meaning something like "prowess") - a compound of gae (Mod. ga) "spear, javelin" and scíath (Mod. sciath) "shield".
