Anyone help with the use of the double genitive with compound prepositions? I recently wanted to say, "Despite my friend's best efforts" and came up with "D'ainneoin dhíchill mo charad. Not sure if that's right, but then I got to thinking of the plural of friends and wondered about "Despite my friends' best efforts". I came up with "D'ainneoin dhíchill mo gcarad", Anyone got any thoughts on these constructions? GRMA.

d’ainneoín dícheall mo charad = despite my friend’s best efforts
d’ainneoin dícheall mo chairde = despite my friends’ best efforts

There’s no lenition following d’ainneoin.
There’s no justifying of a double genitive here, so dícheall.
Carad as genitive plural is used only in some phrases,
the usual genitive plural is: cairde (e.g. Cumann na gCairde)
There’s definitely no eclipsis following mo.

are you sure? I'm not sure myself Normally in this case you should have a lenition, or do you drop it because of the dentals' rule? I couldn't find anything clear so far, concerning "ainneoin" at least, in Graiméar Gaeilge na mBráithre Críostaí...
