new to the site my irish is dreadful unfortunately but im working on it.

was hoping someone would be kind enough to do a translation for me; for a tattoo i plan on getting

"those who act like sheep will be eaten by wolves" or "act like a sheep be eaten by wolves"

pretty morbid saying i know haha but it has meaning to me which is the main thing

also am genuinely trying to learn the language and am working through the Rossetta stone language software at the moment but was hoping someone would be able to suggest a book/novel that's written in irish that i could read?

its just that i need to be at my Computer at home hooked up to a headset to make use of the program which limits the amount of time i can work on my vocabulary and phrases

An té atá geall le caora, is béile don fhaol é. “He who is like a sheep, a meal for a wolf is he.”

An té ar caora é, is béile d’fhaol é. “He who is a sheep is a wolf’s meal.”

Bia d’fhaolta (is ea) an chaora "Food for wolves, the sheep/The sheep is wolves' food."

Creach d’fhaolta (is ea) an chaora "Prey for wolves, the sheep/The sheep is wolves' prey."

Más ionat croí caorach, beir ag an bhfaol craosach. “If you have a sheep’s heart (in you), the voracious/raging/swallowing wolf will have you.” Loving this one

i'm a writer among other things and have written a screenplay based on some of the irish mythos i grew up with there's a couple of things i need translated, should i post it in here or start a new thread?

Whoa... Hold on a sec. I'm not sure "atá" is correct here. I think it should be the copula: "An té ar geall le caora é..." Or is "geall" like "cosúil" and can be used with "bí" and "is"?

I haven't seen "geall" used in that context before.

I already gave my suggestion. But if you want to use "like" then go with "cosúil" like Errigal said.

might go with one of the others then , your suggestion Mair mar chaora, agus beidh tú maraigh ag an mactíre. whats the direct translation for that if you dont mind me asking?

Not at all, you don't have to go with mine. Some of the others may be more poetic.
