Ive been using a spread sheet to record phrases and words ive learned, along with audio i have found for them and sample sentences for the context in which they are used. However as it has grown to over 8,000 entrys its become very messy.
Does anyone else record their data in a similar way, any suggestions as to how to make it more manageable and has anyone used a database instead of a spreadsheet?
I usually divided stuff into:
(a) Basic Grammar (genitive of this word, dative of that, past of this verb, e.t.c.)
(b) Advanced Grammar (every time a didn't genuinely understand what a sentence meant and the eventual explanation)
(c) Notes on words and usage (
An bhéibí is
the baby in Corca Dhuibhne, different meanings of words with a similar meaning. Fón cliste from Bríd.)
(d) Cool phrases (A nice way of saying something that I wouldn't naturally think of, due to being an English speaker)
I dropped (a) at some point, eventually that stuff will be just automatically in your brain, so you'll stop recording it.
As you go on (c) and (d) become the most important.
