I know that, it's only a glide

so one doesn't need to write it in the phonological (nor phonetical) transcription :)
btw it's not even a glide most of the time, people mostly say [bʲiːn ̪ˠ], not [bʲiːən ̪ˠ]

Fair enough, but it's extremely uncommon for lexical words to get any stress anyway. Who says /h'i:z k'ʌmɪŋ/ rather than /hizk'ʌmɪŋ/ anyway?

I was only adding a few thoughts regarding language change! No, you wouldn't stress in 'his'

(NB: I'm aware that English has no short /i/ according to the textbooks, but as everyone I know makes a distinction between /i/ and /ɪ, I don't care what the books say. /hɪk'ʌmɪŋ/ would be "his coming", and seriously, does anyone really pronounce "he's coming" and "his coming" the same?)

That's something I've wondered as clearly there are minimal pairs:
bat vs. Bath (for those with no dental fricative)
bet vs. bate or beat (many Irish people)
bit vs. beet
bot vs. boat
truss vs. truce

What they mean is that mainline urban British and American speakers may not have such pairs systematically, but even they must have a few, I'd imagine

True. I suppose the glide is very apparent to me as I modeled my speech after Connacht and Donegal dialect study books so the 'nn' and 'd' broad are very strongso the glide is quite apparentto me
