How do you describe running water as in,
The tap is running
I am running a bath
The bath is running
Would you use the word Rith ,i know it can be used with flow of speech, Rith cainte ,
or would Sruth be correct?
Then I saw this sentence and wondered if Irish had a completely different way to describe the course water traveled.
Fuaim uisce ag gabháil le fánaidh gleanna, "the sound of water running along the slope of/down the valley."
I would take it to translate as" The sound (of) water going down (the) glen."
"the sound of water running along the slope of a valley" - is a more literal translation, maybe more poetic too. But "The sound (of) water going down (the) glen" has the same meaning.
Water can "run" in Irish too. Bhí an abhainn ag reathaíocht le fána.
