Btw the gh is silent in Ulster too but it changes the pronunciation:

rogha /Re:/
roghnaigh /Re:ni:/

The noun "choice" is rogha /rou/, but the verb is roghnaigh /rounig'/.

Actually, working on the basis that Irish is a noun-intensive language, I'm not sure words like roghnaigh are so brilliant - as they are more of a word-for-word equivalent to the English (which is a verb-intensive language).

Rogha a thógaint (de rudaí)
Rogha a bhaint (as rudaí)

These would be ways of saying "select" using noun-intensive phrases.
