Hmm I can see what you mean about the translation into a command being quite long. Although, as i said, I can see how the demon/devil reference would be appropriate I just feel it might give the tat religious implications and I'm an athiest. So I think perhaps I will just stick to the initial translation of 'gan aifaéla' because as long as its seen to represent some form of "no regrets" the personal meaning isn't too much of an issue.

That's true as well. But the point is that everybody, religious or not, uses these expressions...just as an atheist English speaker might say "damn" or "go to hell" without actually believing that there's a god to damn anyone or a hell to go to.
