Hi, can someone please advise if there are Irish Language Newspapers available in Ireland and if so which is the most read/popular.

Well there is one, it's called Gaelscéal, but unfortunately you'll need to be quick, or you may miss the last edition !

There is also another, 'Foinse', which is included with the Independent newspaper once a week as a kind of supplement.

Chomh maith le Gaelscéal is féidir Foinse a fháil gach céadaoin leis an Irish Independent. Maidir le Gaelscéal is beag díolaíochta a bhí air in aineoinn an méad daoine atá ag casaoid faoi anois go bhfuil sé ag imeacht.

Foinse is available as a supplement each wednesday with the Irish Independent. There is an on-line news service available here www.nuacht24.com

I suppose it is because there are not that many of us Irish speakers/readers out there to keep an Irish language newspaper going. Pity that we should lose our Irish language paper because of that!!
It is available most weeks, I have to say; and I buy it regularly. I will miss Gaelscéal as a newspaper.
Is dóigh gurb é 'chaoi a bhfuil sé ná nach mbíonn an oiread sin lucht labhartha/lucht léite na Gaeilge thart le páipéar Gaeilge a choinneáil i gcló. Is mór an trua é go gcuirfear críoch lenár páipéar Gaeilge mar gheall air sin!!
Caithfidh mé a rá go mbíonn sé ar fáil an chuid is mó den am i siopaí áirithe go seachtainiúil agus bím á cheannach go rialta. Aireoidh mé Gaelscéal uaim mar pháipéar nuachta.
