"An méid" = literally "the amount""="What you said accords with what I(ve) heard before /previously".
(Or maybe " so far/until now").

Well this is tricky especially if you don't know what the sentence is meant to mean. Errigal has put you completely on the right track. We need some form of le there but we also need the relative pronoun which loosely means 'that which' or 'all' (so it's Forainm Coibhneasta an Mhéid in this case - translated 'relative pronoun of quantities' perhaps, although I learned this stuff through Irish).

Some examples of the relative pronoun in the past tense:

Chaith mé gach pingin a thuill mé.
Chaith mé gach ar thuill mé. or Chaith mé ar thuill mé. [the noun 'pingin' is dropped and 'a' becomes 'ar' to signify 'all'.]

So the answer to number 71 is: Tá an méid a dúirt tú ag teacht lenar chuala mé roimhe seo.[/b]
[le + ar = lenar]

...and I've corrected my typo in the word dúirt!

Definitely wrong - TSF error. I suppose you could stick in 'mar' instead of 'ar' to make it work.

and he was the tallest person in the class:

"Ba mhaith liom ' bheith an duine is aoirde sa rang"
To me that's no different to saying Tá mé an duine... which is a clear TSF error.

That's worrying, that's the way I always heard it, even from native speakers. But after you explaining it I can see how it would be "TSF" alright. Even more worrying is the fact I haven't noticed "ar an" before in any reading.

Is there another way of expressing "I would like to be the tallest in the class" without using "ar an" or is that the only option.
