Hi, the third book in my series has been published:
Aodh de Róiste - a translation of Hugh Roach the Ribbonman, done in 1933, by Dónall Bán Ó Céileachair, a Muskerry native. I have used the modern spelling, keeping all the dialect. In addition. the quarterly journal An Músgraigheach published in Muskerry in the 1940s contained several hundred corrections to passages where An Gúm is thought to have altered DBÓC's manuscript, often producing grammatically incorrect Irish. I have restored DBÓC's forms. This is a 540-page book and the Glossary has 2,997 entries. It is available at https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1739887220? ... 494&sr=8-1 . ISBN13: ‎ 978-1739887223

Vol 1 was Peadar Ua Laoghaire's Niamh, at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Niamh-Peadar-U ... C80&sr=1-1 This is a 483-page book, with 1,437 entries in the Glossary. ISBN13: 978-1739887209

Vol 2 was Peadar Ua Laoghaire's Mo Scéal Féin, at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mo-Sc%C3%A9al- ... _AUTOMATED This is a 344-page book with 1,593 entries in the Glossary. ISBN13: ‎ 978-1739887216

The Glossaries give the meanings of words, pronunciations where necessary (all epenthetic vowels and unusual word stresses) and discuss any variation in vocabulary with that in Standardised dictionaries.

It has taken the publishers two weeks to print Aodh de Róiste, but it is now available from https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aodh-R%C3%B3is ... 217&sr=8-1 with 6 copies in stock.

I can't wait to get my copy! I've ordered it already.
Niamh I've got to, but haven't read yet.
The series is wonderful already, and I'm very excited about what will come next.

I have had quite a few sales of Niamh and Mo Scéal Féin, given Peadar Ua Laoghaire's popularity, but fewer sales of Aodh de Róiste.

Aodh de Róiste is less well-known, but is a particularly lovely book. Aodh de Róiste is a tenant on an estate where many people are being turfed out and made homeless by the lord, based in England. He accidently harms the landlord's agent in a scuffle and is sent by the priest to London to explain it to the lord - and the confrontation with the lord is particularly enjoyable. He is then pressganged into the Crimean War and fights in the Crimea and makes his fortune by capturing a Russian generals jewels. He arrived back in Ireland on the day the father of a woman he is interested in is found not guilty of killing the landlord's agent in a separate incident and ends up marrying Neilí.

This book is particularly valuable, because Dónall Bán Ó Céileachair left a list of around 300 passages where An Gúm incorrectly changed his original text, and so the text as I have edited it restores Ó Céileachair's Irish. Ó Céileachair was the local seanchaí in Muskerry until his death in 1950.

This is just a marketing post - see the Amazon link above for the book with 2,997 words listed in the Glossary. Modernised spelling but keeping all the dialect.
