Dear all,

I've been busy re-editing Niamh, a novel set in the time of the Battle of Clontarf, that Peadar Ua Laoghaire wrote in 1907. The spelling has been modernised, but all dialectal forms are kept, and there is a very detailed glossary attached with grammar notes.

I just posted copies today to Litriocht, An Siopa Leabhar and Waterstones Cork with details of how booksellers can order it. The ISBN is 978-1-7398872-0-9 It's not sold anywhere yet, and so will have to wait to see if those outlets agree to stock it.

It is a book priced at €30, a hardback book of Royal Octavo size (a very big book), with 484 pages.

Is it a (much) different version than the one on "Father Peter's own homepage"?

Labhrás, I forgot that the company handling the printing also handle global distribution, and so they must have put it on Barnes&Noble and the other site. It is also on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Niamh-Peadar-U ... C89&sr=8-1

The economics of book publishing are difficult. I priced the book at €30, but the printers charge €11.99 per book. Then you have to give a discount to booksellers. They suggested 55%, which apparently is what booksellers demand. That would have given me only €1.51 per book. So I gave booksellers a discount of 50%, which means I will make €3.01 per book. I did that because it is unlikely to be a best seller.

The PDF on CorkIrish is the third version of the file. The printed book is version 5. Errors have been corrected throughout, including lenition errors, and notes and glossary improved.

I have to say that the "review" shown on Amazon by someone in 2016 cannot be of my version, which has only come out. That person must have bought a copy of the 1907/1910 edition?

In case anyone would want a copy:
The book is available here:

1. Waterstones: https://www.waterstones.com/book/niamh/ ... 1739887209
2. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Niamh-Peadar-U ... 111&sr=8-1

Copies have been sent to Litriocht.com in Ballingeary and to An Siopa Leabhar in Dublin with details of how they can stock it. I have sent a copy to the National Library of Ireland (a legal deposit library), where it can be read free of charge. I have sent some copies to someone in Cork to put in UCC library, where it will be available to read free of charge.

It's nearly a year since I published this book. Waterstone's in Ireland briefly had it on their website, but have now removed it. it is still on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

The book is not exactly a bestseller - it has sold 9 copies since December 15th last year.

But publishing this is just a hobby, so it doesn't matter.
