Hello Brid Mhor...I meant to reply a lot sooner...but then the end of the school year and life pretty much destroyed me. Now that I have awoken from the daze and confusion of life...
Here is the first instalment.
“Hope restored, for this I pray;
true help and healing found
where man does not understand.
The pain, in our hearts we've carried,
the burdens, upon our souls have weighed
each wound we’ve suffered,
every heartache that pains;
grace your lives now cover.
Each of you to be healed,
every soul redeemed.“
I will say this often, I am sure (and shame on me if I do not)...but I am extremely grateful. Thank you. I know this is just the beginning of the final stage of my project, but I am extremely grateful for your help.
I am so shite at poetry. So I can only try to directly translate it, it isn't poetic, or doesn't rhyme. I'm sure other people will be able to improve on my translation.
Honestly I'm not sure I quite understood all of it. This is my effort.
Hope restored, for this I pray;
true help and healing found
where man does not understand.
Sé mo ghuí go dtiocfaidh an dóchas ar ais,
agus go mbeidh cúnamh ceart agus leigheas ann,
rudaí atá deacair ag an duine a thuiscint.The pain, in our hearts we've carried,
the burdens, upon our souls have weighed
each wound we’ve suffered,
every heartache that pains;
grace your lives now cover.
Choinnaigh muid an pian inár gcroí,
agus bhí uallach ar ár anam,
Ach tá gach loscadh croí agus cneamháin a d’fhuleann (sp?) muid anois faoi do ghrásta.
Each of you to be healed,
every soul redeemed.“
Beidh chuile dhuine agaibh leigheasta,
agus beidh chuile anam slánaithe.
Working off what Bríd has given:
Go taga an dóchas ar ais, sin é mo ghuí; "Hope restored, for this I pray;"
Go bhfaighe cúnamh ceart agus leigheas, "true help and healing found"
Mar nach mbíonn an duine á thuiscint. "where man does not understand."
An phian a bhí coinneáilte inár gcroí againn, "The pain, in our hearts we've carried,"
Na hualaí a chuir isteach go mór ar ár anam, "the burdens, upon our souls have weighed"
Chuile chneá a d'fhulaing muid, "each wound we’ve suffered,"
Chuile chrá croí atá nimhneach, "every heartache that pains;"
Go gclúdaí an mhaise bhur saoil anois. "grace your lives now cover."
Go leigheastar chuile dhuine agaibh, "Each of you to be healed,"
Go slánaítear chuile anam. "every soul redeemed.“
That's my take on the nuance ...
