Hello,

I have been wondering about the pronunciation of 'an bhfuil'. The current book I am using (TY Irish, old edition) says it should be /ǝ vˠɪlʲ/ (or similar), however I often seem to hear it pronounced without 'an' at all, just 'bhfuil'. Which way is more common in casual conversation?

Thanks.

In everyday speech, people say "wil" (Munster: "vwil")
In formal speech, "uh wil" (M: uh vwil).

Just to add to the above, it's just like in English when one says "you going to the shop?" vs "are you going to the shop?"
