I'm working through the Memrise program and I wanted to double check the pronunciations.

An-fhuar: awn-luar

An-fhliuch: awn-lough

An-gheal: awn-yahll

Buíochas le dia: buwayhos ley deehuh

Dia duit: deehuh do-hot

Dia's muire: Dee-aws morah

Thanks for any help. Its just a little difficult figuring some of these out.

Hmm, giving out general pronunciation guides like this, especially on a large scale isn't helpful IMO. Subtleties are missed out upon quite often. In addition, some of your suggestions are pretty much flat out wrong.

My Irish isn't as sharp as it used to be (working on that!), but I'll throw together a sound file and let others chime in and approve/dis-approve.

I may have "over" emphasised the emphasis in places but here is a decent attempt I think.

Edit: Woops, I just read the title, my pronunciations aren't Connacht-based. Nonetheless it should give you an idea of how they should be pronounced.

Maybe someone can chime in and suggest how the pronunciations would differ from how I say them in Connacht?

The FH is silent. It doesn't become an L.

Very little difference. Not worth mentioning. Except for "an- " we tend to say it as written not as "ana-". Not strictly though. Well me anyhow.

Thanks, as I'm working through the program they have more than one speaker saying the words and its getting a little clearer.
