In English, there is the expression, 'I'm bursting to go to the loo'.
In Irish, is 'ag pléascadh' suitable? Is there something better?
While I'm at the toilet questions, is there an equivalent to 'loo' or is leithreas the only way to say it?
AFAIK, leithreas is the only one. It's probably complete Béarlachas but that's what I've always used at home
Táim ag pléascadh Nothing wrong with Béarlachas in some cases, unless, of course, there's a suitable native expression.
Táim ag pléascadh / Tá mé pleascaithe (sp?)
That is what is said in Conamara too.
But I wouldn't be surprised that the same word would be used in both languages in this case without it being Béarlachas. Or maybe it came from the Irish first to Hibernian English.
Toilet - A common term is "teach an asail".
Which is what people used before indoor plumbing.
