Lughaidh, if naming something would you still use them eg. would you say beirt mhála?

no, for objects you'd only use the personal numbers as "pronouns", ie. not when followed by nouns.

You'd always say "dhá mhála".
But if someone asks you "how many bags do you have?", you can answer "beirt" (there's no noun after).

That's interesting. I am the same as Bríd and always say 'trí cinn', seacht gcinn' srl.
