Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site so I'm not sure if this is possible, but I was wondering if someone could please do a translation for me into Scotish Gaelic. If anyone could this would be greatly appreciated as I've been having a lot of trouble finding a place to do this and am hoping to get a tattoo that includes the Scotish Gaelic translation.
The phrase is "love will set you free"
Thanks so much,
Lindsay
There are several ways one could express that thought, but probably the most straightforward would be the following, which is a fairly literal translation:
Cuiridh an gràdh mu sgaoil thu [said to one person, informally]
Cuiridh an gràdh mu sgaoil sibh [said to more than one person, or said formally to one person]
Note that Irish does not make this formal/informal distinction. The choice between the informal and formal forms would be a lot like the choice in French between
tu and
vous or in German between
Du and
Sie.
Also note the accent over the "a", and the direction in which it flows (which is different from Irish).]
