Good friends who met 9 years ago and we would like a name that captures what we are: a ring of friends. Any ideas? Need some quickly, as everyone is leaving soon and we'd like to decide while we're together!

Maybe something like;

Ciorcal Cairde (Circle of Friends)

Cara is one friend, cairde is the plural.

And fáinne has a fada (accent) on the a.

Anyway on to my question Ciorcal/fáinne cairde vs Ciorcal/fáinne carad - are there specific contexts when you would use carad instead of cairde or is it just convention?

Neither have I, I was simply saying fáinne has a fada! I would have thought ciorcal was more appropriate here, but I am not to be trusted on such issues.

Carad is the genitive of cara i.e. one friend - singular. Cairde is plural.

This is why I usually keep out of discussions like this. I get all muddled and don't know what is right and what is not!
