Yes, I have the correct Munster spelling now with a broad r.

I'll have the next set of notes up tomorrow.

Also I'll have a go at pronouncing the words and recording them.

I've been under the weather for the last few days, but I'm back to normal now and with a little hard work, will be ready to start on Part 5 by this week-end – or Monday at the latest.

By the way, I think we've been moving along nicely with this story. It's been less than a month and we're almost a third of the way through. :)

I didn't get as much as I would have liked for this today, but here are the notes for Chapter 5:

The Notes.

I'll be adding some Copula explanations to them, so they're not finished. The next few sections don't have many new words, but some good points of grammar. I'll have more up tomorrow.

I definitely appreciate everything that you're doing – Maith thú! :good:

* edit: I'll go over the notes to-morrow and let you know if I spot any typos.

Well, it looks like it's time to roll up my sleeves and get to work! :reading:

I started Cuid a cúig to-day and had a look at the notes. I only saw one very small typo on page 19 where there are 2 periods after "Without so much as" – the rest of the notes for Cuid a cúig look perfect. :good:

Now back to the dreaded page 14 … 8O On page 14, the á is capitalized in Solus Árneáin and Lucht Árneáin, but not in Oíche árneáin. I think none of the á's should be capitalized there. The next thing that I'm going to mention is super nit-picky, but there is a double space before the word Árneán at the beginning of the sentence on page 14 (after "… A night light.") – there should be a single space there instead.

Well, it's time for me to get back to work on part 5 now. I'll let you know if I come across any typos in part 6 when I finish working my way through part 5.

p.s. By the way, the reminders of grammar points from previous notes are very, very helpful to me.

For example on page 18:

Ag dul i luigheadh getting less, growing less. This is an example of the construction men-
tioned in Cuid a haon, used to say “getting X-er”, with X an adjective.

It's reminders like that that really help a learner commit this stuff to memory. :)

I went over everything (including the notes) more thoroughly to-day and noticed a few things – uh-oh

Raimhdeas – The seana-chló version of Cuid a Cúig hasn't been posted yet, so I'm assuming that you are spelling it like this, because that's how it's spelt in the seana-chló. The version of the story that's posted on the Cork Irish web-site spells it raímheadas and Ó Dónaill's dictionary has a very close version to that spelling raimheadas – just lettin' ya know what I've seen.

But enough small talk! I think I found a couple o' typos:

On page 19, I think the word should be Téagartha without a síneadh fada over the 2nd "a".

Also on page 19, I think the right spelling of Chómhtéagártha should be Cómhthéagartha.

Bhí áthas mór uirthi agus í ag féachaint ar an obair, mar bhí a fhios aici cad é a fheabhas a thaithnfeadh an snáth leis an muíntir go mba leó é, nuair a chífidís é. – I'm pretty sure that I know exactly what this sentence means, but I can't think of a way to say it (in English) in way that comes anywhere close to how it's said in Irish. Ah well, it's more important that I understand the meaning of the sentences, instead of worrying about how they sound in English, right? :)
