What is the basic sentence structure in Irish? (ie, English is "Subject + Verb+ Etc") What order are things said in?

If you were saying "I went to the movies with...Tommy" Would it be worded more like "To the movies with Tommy went I"?

Verb-Subject-Object. So your hypothetical sentence would come out like:

Went I to the movies with Tommy.

Chuaigh mé go dtí an phictiúrlann le Tommy.

Okay So, if you wanted to go farther and be more specific, like:

"I went to the movies with Tommy last night to see The Hunger Games" where do the extra words fit in?

Perhaps...

Chuigh mé go dtí an phictiúrlann le Tommy aréir "The Hunger Games" a fheiceáil.

"Went I to the cinema with Tommy last night "The Hunger Games" to see."

btw Redwolf, in your sentence I would add "le", ie: "le "The Hunger Games" a fheiceáil".

otherwise you can put the sentence in the other way too, without "le" then:
Aréir chuaigh mé chun na pioctúrlainne a (dh') fheiceáil "the Hunger Games", le Tommy.

(cf. : chuaigh mé a (dh') ithe an lóin = I went to eat the lunch. If you use "le" you put the object after, then "a" then the verbal noun ; if you use "a" after the verb "to go", you put the verbal noun and then the object in the genitive).

Could you possibly break down the reason's you'd make the changes? I think I'm only lost because you're applying Grammar rules I am not familiar with.

For the most part, it's a question of dialect.
