It's been years since I posted in this forum and so long I had to create a new account!
I was here in the Gaeilge Abu Green bracelet era if anyone remembers that far back!
Im delighted to see it's still active and hoping you may be able to help
I'm looking to get part of Christy Moore's The Voyage- translated for a reading at my wedding
I know it's sacrilege to change perfection as it is but it's probably one of the few ways I could incorporate Gaeilge into my ceremony

If anyone can help with a verse or even a line, that would be great

I am a sailor, you're my first mate
We signed on together, we coupled our fate
Hauled up our anchor, determined not to fail
For the hearts' treasure, together we set sail

With no maps to guide us we steered our own course
Rode out the storms when the winds were gale force
Sat out the doldrums in patience and hope
Working together we learned how to cope

Together we're in this relationship
We built it with care to last the whole trip
Our true destination's not marked on any charts
We're navigating to the shores of the heart

Life is an ocean and love is a boat
In troubled waters that keeps us afloat
When we started the voyage, there was just me and you
Now gathered round us, we have our own crew.

Long time no see.

I can translate this for my own learning and interest but I can't guarantee how good it is. Some others may chip in a comment or two or even the whole thing! Whatever happens, it's a good thing all around.

You will need help with pronunciation from someone. I can do an approximation of some of it but I imagine someone will come along and correct me on that as well. So much the better. To be honest, I think you should do most of it in English and choose which sentence(s) you'd like to say in Irish. Then I (we) can help you out.

I hope your wedding isn't soon. :darklaugh:
