Can I say "bheartaíomar banna nua a chruthú" ? I want to say "we decided to form a new band".

I know "cinneadh" is a decision, perhaps "chinn" in some form works?or " réataíomar" but maybe this has suggestion of settling something.
I am confused with the different forms.
Is "beartaigh" more for planning? Tnx

do shocraíomair ar bhanna nua ' chur suas.

Note: the 1st psn plural preterites in -mar are not used in any village in the Gaeltacht. They don't exist. I think they once existed in Clare or elsewhere at one point, but are not longer living Irish. The only forms are: shocraigh muid or shocraíomaIR

Banna nua a chruthú: this ignores the fact that the "a" isn't heard at all. As Irish is poorly taught and learners have a heavy English accent in their Irish, it is best to drop the "a" and replace by an apostrophe so as not to encourage mispronunciation: banna nua ' chruthú (but I don't like this as it means "create").
