Dia daiobh,

A friend of mine recently got a new Irish Wolfhound puppy called Finn.
He would like to teach him commands in Irish and I said I would check with the Forum as if anyone would know you guys would.

Here is a list of basic commands that he would like to start with;

sit
stay
stand
lay down
roll over
come (here)
heel
walk
fetch
stop
good boy
bad boy
good dog
bad dog

I tried to give him a few but then thought that I did not know if dog commands were different to human commands as you are not dealing with a person.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Go raibh maith agat.

Garth

I'm editing this to empasize that these dog commands are in Irish Gaelic. Here's a link to a thread on this site discussing Scottish Gaelic commands, for anyone who is interested in them: http://www.irishlanguageforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5071

Originally, I had a link here to lists of dog commands which were posted on the old IGTF site (which most of us have abandoned, after it went commercial and became troublesome), but I'm taking it out, because the link appears to have gotten broken. What was there is essentially all here now, anyway.

a Caoimhín,

Go raibh maith agat; The list is great and I checked out the link to IGTF and got some more insight.

If that does not give him something to work with I do not know what will.

Very much appreciated.

Garth
